A Message to the Membership

Brothers and Sisters of Local 640, I came in to work, to provide for my family, and to build something I could be proud of. Today, I am asking for your support to lead our Local into a new era of transparency and growth.

Roots and Resilience

I was raised right here in Arizona in a home built on toughness and discipline. We worked through problems and carried our weight. Watching addiction tear through my family taught me early about the necessity of showing up for others when things get hard.

For a long time, I handled pressure by staying quiet. I realize now that made me seem unapproachable. That is on me. As your Business Manager, I am committed to ensuring every member has a direct line to leadership.

Jason Dempsey

Fraternally yours,

A Personal Commitment to the Membership

Dear Brothers and Sisters, my name is Jason Dempsey and I’m asking for your vote for Business Manager. This election isn’t about personalities; it’s about direction and who this Local belongs to. Right now, too many members feel unheard, and decisions are made without real input. That stops now.

Where I Come From

I was raised in Arizona in a home built on discipline and resilience. I didn’t have shortcuts; I came in to provide and build for my family. Watching my mother fight through loss and addiction early on taught me the necessity of showing up for others when things are hard. That toughness is what I bring to the table for you.

Over 25 years in the industry and 8 years serving Local 640 as President, Business Representative, Trustee, Delegate, and Steward, I’ve represented hundreds of members. I’ve seen where we fall short. Too often, I’ve had to defend members from the very leadership supposed to stand up for them. We cannot continue with backdoor calls and a culture of silence.

Strength without strategy is chaos.
Strategy without backbone is weakness.
We need both.

In Solidarity,
Jason Dempsey
